Hot on the tail of Paul Evans, David Cooper shares his experience of working with United Advisers and his top financial tips.

One of the benefits of working with an independent financial adviser is that you get quality, personal service. We know that your relationship with your adviser is incredibly important and we wanted to help you to get to know the team better.

What made you join UAG?

I was invited to buy in as a shareholder and become the Sales Director some 8 years ago. Before this, I had been working at some of the largest banks and brokerages in the market. The largest being Lloyds Bank in the UK.

Having been successful in these large companies I was interested in working for a smaller and more flexible team of advisers. United Advisers offered me this opportunity, and I jumped at it. Initially, I stayed in Geneva, but we quickly expanded the business to open offices in Luxembourg, Madrid, Mexico City, Zurich and Bucharest. This also meant I got to move to Madrid which is one of my favourite cities in Europe and is where my family now live

What is something clients are surprised to learn about UAG?

That we care so much about client service. Sometimes our industry sector doesn’t hold such a high service reputation. Our clients are always pleasantly surprised to discover that we are different. We pride ourselves on continued honesty and integrity. This makes us different from some other providers we believe.

Do you have a top financial tip?

Little and often makes a big difference!  This is one of the best ways to build up your savings over time in a disciplined structured way

Can you share your best UAG moment?

The best has to have been when Paul accepted the offer to join the United Advisers team and we planned the management buy out of the founder of the original business. This transformed the business and meant we were able to expand into new countries and lay our new business foundations

I am responsible for the team of Wealth Managers and front office staff. Great pleasure is gained from organically growing people and the team with a solid training and development structure being in place. Some of the many examples of this progression is with Nygel and Oliver.  They both started as Client Relationship Managers and have progressed into excellent Wealth Managers.  I am very proud of the fact that we have great staff retention in the company as it means we can provide our clients with a consistent service and financial contact.

Describe yourself in 3 words…

High energy, “Enthusiastic and “Very Knowledgeable” in the subject of wealth management.

Now tell us a secret…

Before my financial services career started some 25 years ago. I helped a Canadian waterbed manufacturer sell their products at the “Ideal home Exhibition”.

If you’d like to learn more about Davids’s waterbed history or ask him a question about your financial plan then you can get in touch with him here.
