Spotlight Interview with Guy Fila

Craig works in the Madrid office as a Client Relationship Manager and is responsible for meeting the needs of new clients.

Guy joined the United Advisers Marine team at our Palma office from a background in the automotive industry.  He uses his gregarious nature and positive ‘lifestyle first’ attitude to support two of our Financial Planners in looking after the needs of our marine clients.

Guy’s interests, to name just a few, include anything automotive (such as restoring vintage cars to their former glory), cooking, travel, personal fitness, surfing and skateboarding. He is currently adding learning Spanish to the mix.

We caught up with Guy for a chat in beautiful Palma…

What made you join UAG?

I’m passionate about helping others build a better future and feel UAM is the perfect place to do that. Having spent most of my working life in client facing roles, my background helped me transition to this industry.

Describe yourself in 3 words…

Ambitious – I set myself manageable goals each year and work to improve my skill-set so I can better help others.

Focused – Once I commit to something, I am determined to see it through.

Infectious – I am naturally confident, and people tend to warm to me.

Can you share your best UAG moment?

The opportunity to meet the rest of the UAG team at our conference in Palma this year. With our offices based internationally, it was good to put names to faces!

I enjoyed seeing everyone focused and listening to each other while helping one another grow within their roles. There was a great aura around, and it made me feel even more committed to succeeding in my role.

What is something clients are surprised to learn about UAG?

Prospects and clients seem surprised at how easily accessible we are, and at the help we provide.

Because we work as a team, we all keep up to speed with our clients and their experiences with us so that, if their nominated Wealth Manager is unavailable, there is always someone who can answer any questions they may have. This surprises a lot of clients.

Do you have a top financial/investment/life tip?

Yes; never focus on the past and any financial mishaps, or mistakes you may have made in life.

I’ve certainly been guilty of this myself, but focussing on past ‘if only’ and ‘what if’ moments won’t change the present. Look forward and focus on what matters…‘the now.’
